When I first saw this website I though: ''What a silly idea to make a model of a model railroad, can't you just play with the model railroad itself?'', but when I had installed the software and tried operating a couple of train sets on the supplied track plans, switching cars on the switchyard and assembling new trains, I found this piece of model railroad software quite entertaining.
The software is made of two pars, there's the model railroad layout editor where you can add tracks, switches, stations and background graphics. Then there's the model railroad simulator where you can actually control train sets on the layouts you have created or downloaded.
What I didn't think of at first but that soon became obvious to me was that the combination of a track layout editor and a model railroad simulation will allow model railroaders all over the world to share their own layouts and let other model railway enthusiasts try out their track plans.
